AICC organizes Regional Meetings for the Malawi Roundtable for Sustainable Beef

The African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC), secretariat for the platform of Malawi Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (MRSB), invited different beef value chain players who included; input suppliers, veterinary service providers, government livestock agencies, beef retailers, large and small scale Beef producers, beef processors, Non- Governmental Organisations and many other players interested in revamping the beef sector to regional meetings that were held on 6th November at Lunzu Rural Training Centre (RTC), Blanyre for the southern region and 8th November at Chikho Hotel, Kasungu, for the Northern and Central Region.

The meetings were organized to discuss a road map with regional stakeholders for the governing and programing of the Beef platform, resource mobilization strategy, roll-out strategy and membership mobilization strategy.

AICC PARTICIPATED IN A SEVEN DAYS CONSERVATION AGRICULTURE TRAINING IN SALIMA

AICC participated conservation agriculture (CA) training in Salima from 2 September 2018 to 7 September 2018. The training was organized by Total Land Care (TLC) with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy. The training aimed at capacity building on conservation agriculture of implementing partners. The training drew participants from NEAL partners and other stakeholders in CA practices. Over eleven organization attended the training including WE Effect, Development Fund of Norway (DF), Total Land Care, TEVETA, HEIFER, LEAD, NASFAM, ORAMO (Mozambique), CFU (Zambia), LUANAR, AICC and MZADD. The training intended at harmonizing Conservation Agriculture (CA) messages and practice among the partners, climate change, conventional ridge tillage, challenges facing CA implementation and need for upscale adoption with a special practical session on CA mechanization using animal drawn rippers and tractor drawn rippers. About 60 delegates attended the training which was held at Blue waters and two days field visits to Chinguluwe EPA in Salima and Mwansambo EPA in Nkhotakota.

 

AICC through Legume Platform attended Youth employment in Agriculture

AICC attended the Youth in Agriculture and Employment conference in Kigali Rwanda. Themed “Youth Employment in Agriculture as a solid Solution to ending Hunger and poverty in Africa: Engaging through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Entrepreneurship”.  The event was jointly organized by FAO and African Union and the Government of Rwanda.The main outcome of the conference was a framework document and road map to boost youth engagement and interest in agriculture as a solid foundation towards eradicating poverty through decent youth employment as an in agriculture as a solid foundation towards eradicating poverty through decent youth employment as an integral part of the agenda of wealth creation and shared prosperity in Africa, consistent with AU agenda 2063 and SDGs.

The conference aimed to foster exchange among stakeholder on knowledge and best practices regarding the interfaces between agriculture, youth employment, entrepreneurship ICT Innovations, leading to prioritizing interventions going forward. Stakeholders discussed the relative importance of youth centered entrepreneurship and innovations in agriculture and agribusiness along the major themes: youth and entrepreneurship, digital solutions to overcome agriculture value chain related constraints and future for agriculture work.
